Healthy Babies Coalition

What is the Healthy Babies Coalition?

The Anne Arundel County Department of Health started the Healthy Babies Coalition in 2006 to address maternal and child health disparities among African Americans in the County. The coalition consists of government agencies, health care providers, social service providers, churches, community organizations and County residents.

The Healthy Babies Coalition has developed a comprehensive plan to improve the health and well being of pregnant women and infants in Anne Arundel County. The Healthy Babies Coalition's priorities are:

  • To educate county women about preconception, prenatal, and postpartum health.
  • To address cultural and health beliefs that contribute to disparities in infant mortality.
  • To increase Anne Arundel County residents' awareness of maternal and child health issues.
  • To reduce teenage pregnancy in Anne Arundel County.
